Seatrade Cruise News reports that even though Carnival Corporation lost $9.5bn on revenues of $1.9bn in 2021, their executives didn't need to set up a Go Fund Me page.
Arnold Donald, president, and CEO of Carnival Corp. & plc, received compensation valued at $15m in 2021., an increase of 1.7 million from 2020. Donald's salary increased to $1.5m from $857,413. Stock awards were valued at $7.4m, down from $12.2m in 2020, but a $6m bonus increased his total compensation.
Among the other execs, Michael Thamm, Group CEO of Costa Group & Carnival Asia, was the second most highly compensated company leader with $6.8m, up from just under $5.2m in 2020.
In 2021, Carnival returned fifty ships to service.
More than 1.2m passengers sailed during 2021.
The company ended the year with $9.4bn of liquidity.
