Latest report lists 239 ships to be back in service this month and an 8.4% increase in capacity.
According to the latest report from Cruise Industry News Royal Caribbean is leading the restart with 20 ships with 71, 000 berths in December.
Five cruise ship brands are responsible for close to half half of the month’s capacity. They are Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and AIDA Cruises. Together, those companies are operating over 240,000 berths.
The report also list the total amount of berths back in service at 425,000. That number in January was 40,000 berths and 21 ships back in service.
